I looked at the analytics of previous apps and went through the app reviews. To learn more about the users I interviewed my colleagues at Denksport, from Customer support to the CEO. ResearchĪfter I defined the goals I did target audience and competitor research. Other goals were: reaching the top 50 in the category of puzzle games in the stores and gain at least 20% more downloads in the age group of 10-40. Getting a minimum of 4 stars for the apps was the main goal. To kick off the design process, I always defined the main goals and functionalities of the applications together with the rest of the team in a brainstorming session. When I approved designs from the visual designer or given approval to parts of the app that built it went to the final check by the team lead. In every step of the process, I had a say. Where I was responsible for overseeing the process in Jirra. We worked with our take on the scrum method. Working on multiple apps at the same time gave me the opportunity to learn from the previous apps and use that information for the newer ones. During this time I streamlined many procedures, such as faster testing, translational work and customer support. For the first 2 apps (Sudoku and Tectonic), the development time was a year for each for the other three apps (Wordsearch Crossword and Arrowword) development time was reduced to six months each. I was part of the Denksport team for 3,5 years. Dutch, French, English, German, Swedish, Danish, Spanish and Italian.At Denksport, I had the opportunity to visit a festival (Forever Young festival) where the target audience was present, this allowed me to test the apps with users and gather immediate feedback.

Denksport has a strong user base, that is involved in the development. During the process, I took on the role of the middleman between the users, the developers and the stakeholders. Being the only UX expert in this company, I got the opportunity to put my skill set to use and make an impact on the app development process of the company. I recreated the experience of well-know-known puzzle magazines into digital counterparts with added benefits such as interactive hints and tutorials.
